Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
