Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
