Stu Ungar is considered by many to the very best No Limit Hold em Poker gambler ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champion was born in New York in ‘53 and began playing poker before becomming a teenager.

The young bettor started out wagering gin and at the age of 10 had won his primary gin rummy tournament, while on vacation with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the small poker genius had turned pro and stopped going to school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the record books by succeeding 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York these days.

The quick talking wiz kid has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic superstars like Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a genuine talent for wagering poker except regardless of his achievements in Texas holdem poker, he preferred betting gin.

Stu once said that there may several day be a greater No Limit Texas holdem player than him but he could not see how anyone could ever be a greater gin gambler.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the ideal Hold em Poker gamblers in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the first time. Astonishingly it was the first time he had played in the tournament.

The right after year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by successfully protecting his crown. And in 1997 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker master also struggled with substance abuse and a year following succeeding his 3rd title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to doctors, he had died from a heart attack which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu had started with nothing but his skill and expertise for the casino game which made this poker great a millionaire a lot of times over.
